Swamp Rat Guitars was born in 2024, founded by Bert Perry—a lifelong guitar addict with a love for music, simple, soulful gear and the grit of DIY tone. What started as a passion project in a basement quickly turned into a full-blown obsession: building handcrafted cigar box guitars, amps, and effects with character, tone, and attitude.

Every piece of gear we make is built right here in the USA using reclaimed cigar boxes—each one with its own scars, stories, and sonic mojo. No two are the same, and that’s exactly how we like it. The unique materials give our instruments a sound all their own: warm, earthy, and full of soul at low volumes—but with just enough bite to surprise you.

Our amps and guitars are made to travel. No electricity required. Just a battery and a little inspiration, and you’re jamming by the campfire, on the beach, in a hotel room, on the tour bus, or even right at home. These are low-maintenance, portable instruments for making music anywhere—no frills, no fuss, just killer tone wherever the road takes you.
